Simoco programming software with Windows 7

Post by Rob_Brookes »

I'm sure others have already spotted this one but for the slow learners like myself, if you're trying to use the current Simoco programming software under Windows 7 you'll have found that it works OK but you may also have noticed that the help file associated with the program doesn't now work at all.

This is because Microsoft have been fiddling about with what ain't broke once again and the old Winhlp32.exe doesn't now ship with either Vista or Windows 7. However it can be found on the Windows update website from where a file called Windows6.1-KB917607-x86.msu (if you're running 32 bit Windows) can be downloaded and run. This restores your computer's ability to read .hlp style help files. Now why couldn't Microsoft have just included the file in the first place as it obviously works with Windows 7 ?
