SV2 is a real 'app' for both iOS and Android. I know it seems like a retrograde step given SARLOC V1 Technology means nothing needs to be installed on the LostPer's 'phone but the problem with SV1 and all its derivatives (PhoneFind etc.) is, if the LostPer does not have internet connectivity, neither the LostPer or the Emergency Services get a location, as the LostPer cannot download the SARLOC Technology web page.
SV2 gives the LostPer a location without needing internet access (In most cases). This could be sent via SMS or read out if voice comms is available.
If the LostPer does have internet access, they can share their location directly into SARLOC/MRMap by entering a SARKey (obtained by the team) into the app.
The next version of SV2 for iOS will allow the LostPer to share a photo' which will be stored encrypted for the calling team to view.
The app will work out where it is in the world and give the grid reference in an appropriate format (OSGB, OSI or UTM)
The settings page allows the format of the Lat./Long. to be changed (D/DM/DMS), UTM to be forced if required and fields on the home screen to be hidden to reduce clutter.
