A simple early Simoco/Philips repeater

Again using radios a number of teams will have consigned to a cupboard, it's possible to build up nice little repeaters or rebroadcast devices. Shown here are PRM8020s although the case is from a more recent model for one of the radios shown. The RF boards are standard PRM98020s capable of 64 channels and here using just R5
This photograph is missing the duplexer which would be necessary for an in-band repeater but this setup can just as easily be used as a cross-band rebroadcast device. Programming software is DOS for those who remember it so is less flexible but providing you have a moderately slow computer running not much more than Windows 98 then it's easy enough to use.
Yet another very old power supply has been dragged into service, expecially for Dave Healey of Bolton team. There's a small circuit board to make up for this device although it can be made simpler than making your own PCB and can even be wired using the 'Dead beetle' method inside the radios themselves with the IC glued to the chassis, legs up. It can also be wired as an external repeater box. As with the Icom version, all it does is cross over the PTT and Rx/Tx audio lines. Nothing complicated.
