GPS Tracking using Mobile Phones.

For those interested in the progress of technology. The MRMap ini file
changes listed below reflect those Bowland Pennine and SARDA Wales team
members who are using Steve Fletcher's mobile phone Java application instead
of a radio to get GPS position reports onto the MRMap screen.

The ...-P is Iain Nicholson's method of distinguishing between radio and mobile
phone reports and is as good as anything else we have at the moment. We are
looking into other methods.

Note that this method is currently being developed by Steve of Bolton MRT
and requires no radios at any stage of the game. It's all done by a suitable,
GPS equipped mobile phone. At the moment it doesn't work with iPhones
but that too is being worked on and I'm probably already wrong.

Steve has now managed to get his system working with iPhones and a number of teams have team members testing for him on their own phones. The system has now been fully integrated into MRMap and the next release will have both a radio and a mobile phone icon to differentiate between signals received by either method. Eventually Steve hopes to make the apps available to any team member who wants to use them but at the moment the system has to find a more permenant server to live on. Once this work has been completed, things will move on.
