MRMap in C3 and rebro vehicles

Post by Rob_Brookes »

This one is a bit of a con I'm afraid. I don't have enough time at the moment to properly document this but if anyone needs to use MRMap to track hill party members from a forward control, rebroadcast or C3 type vehicle using the rebroadcast radios rather than the main vehicle one then it can be done. I've now worked out how to get the rebroadcast working and allow MRMap to be plugged into either, or both, radios making up the rebro unit. MRMap itself will function entirely normally, and if you have a mobile phone dongle then you can put the data on to the server in the normal way. The rebro will also pass the data back to your base in the normal way. You might get some odd effects with direct and web data coming into the same computer but it doesn't causes as much trouble as it used to.

The method used is easy to implement but involves a little re-wiring. It also requires that all radios in the chain have the correct values in some of the programming parameters. These values differ from what we normally recommend.

If anyone wants the information I can send it in a very rough form. It's easy to understand. There are a number of config files as examples but these were being set up for non-UKSAR channels so will need modifying before I could send them out. Email me if yoy want the information but eventually I'll document it properly. Apologies for this being a less than ideal way of doing this but it's a question I get asked fairly regularly and have finally worked out the answer, unfortunately I'm very busy at the moment.
